In Reply To: I have received offers from two bb firms and a regional firm. However, being a political science major, I'm worried about my knowledge of finance when compared to others (i.e. finance majors)who will be in my starting class. It seems those friends who are undergrad finance majors have already been exposed to free cash flow, market strategy, forecasting, portfolio analysis, etc. during their undergrad curriculum. Do I need to read any finance or valuation books before I begin my training or are most people in the same boat with me? I guess I'm questioning how I was hired to analyze companies when I've never been exposed to the skills that I'll need on the job.
Message: Why in the world are you worried? You've been hired because you are smart and capable, not because you've wasted the last 4 years in an extended training program. RELAX and have a lot of fun before you start working, this will be the last time you'll have so much free time.
