In Reply To: I was just reading these messages about analyst's salary; they all seem to range between 40-45K, and from what i hear, the hours are around 80/week. So when I think about my situation, chemical engineer, major pharmaceutical company, 58K base +5K bonus + stock options, 40 hours/week, I just can't understand why people try so hard to become an analyst??- I will also apply to b-school in a couple of years. From what I hear, the b-school curriculum quantitative courses are a joke compared to undergrad engineering. So what is all the fuss about??-
Message: engineer dude, you are right. but you are leaving out end of year bonus which is usually anywhere from 10-25k and once in a blue moon, even upto 40. however, people put in the hell hours now so that they'll have a better chance at getting an offer post mba when you get about 150k first year, 250k second, 450k third... etc. but the hours do suck.
