Diversity on the street in pretty much unheard of, as most people on this board have mentioned.
But in my experience, JP Morgan pushes most for "Diversity." There are plenty of women and Asians in my office and people of all ages. There aren't too many African Americans or Hispanics in my NY office, but there are definitely a lot more than I've seen at other firms' NY offices.
The company actually talks about diversity in their goals/mission statement. They care about it because they know that if they don't, they'll be missing out on some top candidates. |

I agree wholeheartedly with you. JP Morgan has been the only firm I see which really makes an effort to recruit from a diverse set of candidates. Kudos to JP Morgan!! No wonder they are the #1 bank in Latin America. I hope other firms learn from the excellent example set by JP Morgan.
Don't get me wrong, I'm no activist. It's just good business sense to give everyone, regardless of race, religion, economic background, etc., an equal opportunity to do what they really want, especially in an already tough field to get into such as I-Banking, where often times knowing someone inside is easier when you come from a more privileged background.
