Message: I am reluctant to say this, but I would generally go bulge. While, I agree with boutique fan on the lean deal teams at boutiques, I'm not sure about the rest of his analysis. First of all, your experience at ML would depend on what group you're in. If you're in M&A or a leading industry group--don't worry, you'll get plenty of interesting work. Plus, you'll get to work with top senior people. You'll also make great contacts. As for MBA programs, not all boutiques have a great reputation. Talk to former analysts at the boutique and see where they got in. I agree that ML has excellent training. At the analyst level you should be looking to learn and work with smart people. I agree that some boutiques offer a lot of challenges and the opportunity to do great work--but not all of them. When you tell people where you worked, you don't want them to say "Where?"
