I will be starting an MBA at the U of Rochester at the end of this month. My previous position was in institutional credit which included significant financial statement analysis and continuous interface with both sales and trading. During my career I had good progression from operations to my previously held job in credit and recently earned my CFA. I did significant research on the bulge-bracket firms, some informational interviews in New York and read about three-quarters of Principles of Corporate Finance (Brealey and Myers) during my pre-term so far in order to prepare for the interviews and career fairs that are fast approaching. Additionally, I intend to continue my information interviews with alumni and other friends during the early part of the fall, which is especially important given the limited exposure of UofR and the high teen to low 20's ranking of my school. Some individuals stated that non-analysts do not have a chance of attaining a associate position after b-school. Any thoughts on how to put a positive spin on this would be appreciated. Moreover, any additional comments on how to retain an internship as a Summer Associate in the Year 2000 would be greatly appreciated.
