Erich,
I am also in the midst of a career change - I just interviewed with a boutique investment banking firm, and I have no background in it whatsoever. However, my skills (b-to-b sales, corp. marketing, management, familiarity in dealing with CEO's/CFO's etc.) make me an attractive addition to the firm. There's a lot more to inv. banking than the typical career path...you could be in sales with a focus on the small-cap / micro-cap markets for M&A's, private placements, equity lines, etc. I'm not sure if you're familiar with all of these terms. But you should look into firms in your geographical area, and not only the big names...you will probably have a much harder time getting into a Goldman Sachs vs. a small niche firm. Anyway, I just wanted to give you some info. on my experiences. Good luck - whatever you decide. |

If things don't work out, your background would click perfectly with our Internet startup; you'd probably be making more money with us than most investment bankers (that's in terms of bonus; you can add to that options). Contact: cristino@hotbot.com
