I have a question for you. I go to a big ten school (I.U.). I am a finance major and I wish to get into I-banking. What would be the best route for me to get onto the street after undergrad. Longterm, I plan to get a JD/MBA, but how do I get a chance to "show my stuff" when competing with thousands of Ivy Leaguers. Before answering this, could you please read my other post. The title reads "Please HELP. I need some advice." Thanks a lot. |

Be careful when you listen to posts like "rant". Read between the lines. Trust me, your best course of action is to prepare extensively for the GMAT, get your resume in order and get into the best MBA program possible. If you do this you will not need to gather 10 million other credentials. You will also no longer be impressed by a six figure salary. You'll make a six figure salary the very year you graduate, not to mention the fact that you'll be able to choose the industry that best suits your needs. You may want to reconsider the JD/MBA combination. I don't think that you will get as much out of this combination as you think you will. This is somewhat more marketable, but you would be better served by getting the MBA, then putting your efforts into you work. Also, don't worry about the fact that you went to a state school as far as MBA admissions is concerned. I also attended a state school and I was able to gain entry into a top B-school program because of my GMAT, and other considerations. Good Luck.
