Poor stupid people who did n't get into Harvard or Stanford so they have to look up USNews vainly searching for evidence that other places are better. An I-bank asking why you chose Harvard/Stanford?! Poor stupid people whose inferioty complex means writing why their school is better on a message board. Also to stigler, you interview with an I-bank, not "interview from". Try and improve your language skills you failure. Also you probably posted the message afterwards agreeing with you but posing as someone else. You are such a failure. |

I've got a BA in mathematical economics from a top 5 lib. arts school. I work in M&A; a year ago, I visited Stanford, Anderson, Kellogg, and Chicago (and sat in on classes for one to two days at each). The first three were complete bullshit as far as the level of difficulty. Chicago scared the shit out of me. Not that I couldn't do the math. But I went through 4 years of that shit, and for what? So someone could tell me they've never heard of my school? No doubt I got a better undergrad. education than those at Stanford, Harvard, etc., but THOSE schools can get you a job by name ALONE. (BTW: Lest you think I "couldn't cut it" at one of those schools and thus chose Pomona, I got into Stanford, Berkeley, and UCLA as well.) My point is this: I don't want to be in the same boat I was/am. Chicago and Wharton are definitely more rigorous programs. If you go to Stanford or Harvard, however, (assuming you can get in) you'll have your way paved for you. In the real world, no one gives a shit if you can crank out stochastic calculus or differential equations. Sad, but true. Take my advice and take the path of least resistance!
