I am changing careers from a service business (hospitality) to the high-tech industry. I am applying to telecom firms and start-ups for sales/marketing and business development opportunities.
I am currently at a senior level pay scale (6 figures) in my current industry, and have basically run a company from business plan, market development to financials. Problem, though, is that while I have done a functional resume -- there is nothing "high tech" about it -- no working with frame relay, selling software, etc. How can I get my foot in the door as I am certain that I would be a strong asset to a high-tech firm?
I have recently done some moonlighting with tech-firms doing proposals for them and market research to learn more about the industry and while those firms may hire me, I want some options.
Any ideas, as I just want to get an interview granted. From there, I think I can take it the rest of the way.
Thanks!
