It is always better to be "over" dressed as opposed to "under" dressed. Find out if jeans was their usual - it could have been a special day or casual Friday. Either dress in dressy casual (if jeans are that company's usual) or dress down the suit,if you can, making it more casual. |

I just started a new job at a Net company. I mostly interviewed at startups and net companies so I got tired of wearing the power suit only to be told when I got there that I could've dressed down.
It is best to overdress if you are not sure. But you can always ask in advance. I ask when I schedule the interview stating that I know most tech/net companies are casual. Most say oh yeh glad you asked ..dress casual. And yes never jeans. The dockers and nice shirt Gap look.
I love my job working on cutting edge Internet law issues. As a law graduate, it may not be the big bucks of a law firm but at least I don't have to wear those uptight suits and work 80 hour weeks (which means dollar per hour they make as much as I do) and I have stock options and can grow with the company.
