That's the "cynic" attitude that I described in the prior posting.
You do have a valid point; there is an unfortunate, ever-expanding feeling of the employee as commodity. BUT, what if the commodity runs into that jilted employer at another time? Isn't that "anti-networking"? Is that the image you want to present to the business world? Is that how you want to be known?
And please don't assume that every employer feels that way about its prospective employees. The jilter does create problems for that employer, and having been in that employer situation in a large corporation, it's not fun. And I do remember (from 18 years ago!) the name of the person who did it! |

I don't consider this an ethical issue. Your employment is "at will". You can leave anytime you want and they can fire you any time they want.
After starting my first job after graduating from college, I got another offer about a week later. I thought it was the right think to do and stayed with my present company. What a mistake! Had I taken the new job offer I would be in a much better position today. I still reget not taking it.
