HR role in techie interviews |

In the past, it was possible for an HR professional to have a pretty decent understanding of the job a candidate is interviewing for. But if you're hiring for a highly technical position, it's an impossibility for HR to evaluate a candidate properly. In my company, HR doesn't even evaluate the resumes for engineering or operations positions.
So, if you find someone completely disdainful of HR, it may well be someone working in a highly technical field. If you're hiring a C programmer, what are the chances that an HR professional would be able to do a proper evaluation? |

While it may not be possible for an HR person to truely evaluate an applicant's technical skills in a highly technical field, an interview by HR is still valuable. They can evaluate the candidate's communications and other skills.
Often, hiring managers are so excited about the fact that the person they are interviewing has technical skill X, that they overlook the fact that the person has no personality, can not relate to people, and does not fit into the company culture. HR, as an objective observer, can help in this area.
