Too competitive? Welcome to the business world. Don't expect to get offers because of your GPA and your education. In interviews, I don't boast about how smart I am, I separate myself from the rest of the candidates by my accomplishments and my personality. I have an outstanding resume and a ton of experience while I maintain a pretty good GPA and go to a decent b-school. I got a number of offers over students with 3.9s from top schools because (and I quote one of my offers), "although some of the other candidates have accomplished more academically, I am the most well-rounded candidate they interviewed". Internships are DAMN competitive, but the only way you are going to get anything is if you are different. Unless you are looking into an IBank and then, they want everyone to be the same ivy league, snooty, work-a-holic. For the rest of the world, my statement applies. |
