Avoid Starmedia at all costs. It is the worst company I have ever worked for. The two founders/CEOs are the biggest assholes I have ever met. The management staff is made up of incompetent psychos. I believe the VP/general manager is mentally disturbed -- I'm not kidding or exaggerating. The place is run like a cult -- you're expected to work until 3 or 4:00am every day. I would get dirty looks and nasty comments if I left at 8:30 at night. They fired all of the talented or competent people because they dared to have personalities or refused to blindly accept everything management had to say. Also, despite their IPO, you will never get any option money there. Their vesting schedule is three years, NOT graduated. That means your first option vests only after three years. |

I am currently working in a communications/PR position for a finance firm and trying to break into the internet world. I have been looking into Starmedia, as I had heard great things about them. So please give me advice on whether it's possible for me to find time to study for Grad school exms and work there full time. If Starmedia is really that bad, please suggest other companies that would appreciate a tri-lingual Ivy-leaguer in NY w/ no internet experience. I am looking for a lateral position with 45K +.
