In Reply To: A very sad story, Mr. recruiter, employer, but in today's work place there is no such thing as security or even long term employment at one company. Everyone in this country is looking to save money (even a penny). If a dollar can be saved by firing a trained, trusted employee and hiring someone for less, I believe most companies will jump at the chance. The idea that a person has some 'ethical' bond to a potential employer would only hold if the bond went both ways. It doesn't in todays market.
Message: To the last "anonymous" author...please speak only for your experience. Everyone knows today's society is different, but many people and companies are truly looking for loyalty. The difference that you have overlooked is that companies are now trying new tactics to keep good employees due to the fact that people have the opportunity to hop around. To the original author, do what is best for you, but remember...people still look at resumes to see if you job hop. If you are a contractor that is fine. If you are someone who wants a more permanent position be weary about jumping around.
