MP3 and Universal settled a deal today that would allow MP3 to access Universal's catalog while also allowing Universal to buy a large amount of stock in MP3. I know that the legal costs must have been huge for MP3 but I wished they had stuck it out a bit more. It's really more than a simple money or copyright issue. Are the musicians employees of the record companies? I don't think so. I would consider them more free-lancers or partners or something. But not employees. Anyway, I just think this is another example of the music companies exerting their pull.
