Did anyone hear about that new report? Apparantly dotcoms are four more times likely to have hired managers with checkered pasts. Some have been tied to organized crime, securities violations and bankruptcies. Does this really surprise anyone? First of all, with the headlong rush for money, dotcoms would hire anyone. Of course, a lot of dishonest people would be attracted to dotcoms. They could be seen as easy money. Where better to embezzle money than from a company that is not keeping track of it? Dotcoms are sketchy anyway, even if their managers aren't 'stealing'. I mean think about. Everyone knows someone who was promised riches only to be fired 2 weeks later. Or who was promised a raise and never got it. The fact is that a lot of these companies overinflate earnings just so they can survive on the next round of funding. If you ask me, it's no surprise that official felons are running some of these places. Anyone have any thoughts? |

Doesn't surprise me...Especially after being at the Fall NY Internet World Conference all week. Let's just say that I felt like I was living inside an infommercial. I can't believe that Company Executives and Marketing "gurus" believe that Internet professionals such as myself could really be wooed by the potential of a another oversized T-shirt. I felt like I was at a Rave show at some of the more conspicuous booths. And if someone else tries to pin me, prod me or coerce me into letting them scan my nametag, I may have to go join a more civilized industry.
