I was reading in the Industry Standard that close to a dozen US companies, including Proctor & Gamble, are now using animated 'bots' to guide surfers through web sites and answer questions. However, it seems that the bots, as of right now, can only answer very very simple questions and it is a slow process. I am very intrigued by this technology. Do you think it will improve in the next few years? Will more companies rely on it? What companies produce the technology for these bots? |

Yes, bots are great and getting a lot better.
The shopping bots like Dealtime work rather well right now but will continue to improve by leaps.
The rub is some of the best bot technology is not always the strongest business prospect. Both realities must make concessions to each other.
