I have heard that in Jan 2006, the offers to new hires will involve more cash-based incentives and fewer stock options due to the deflated performance of the latter. I recently received an offer for an yield engineering position at RR5, but am not impressed: $64k + bonus + 1200 options + relo. (Master's plus 7 years experience). Offers from other companies are at least 8-15% higher for base salary.
Is it worth while to wait it out until Jan to see if the offer package details change? Or should I attempt to leverage Intel's shift away from stock options to negotiate a higher base (or at least a base + sign on bonus)?
Any advice or input is appreciated! |

I would ask for more money. Intel is looking at increasing base pay in 06, as they lower stock options.
