In Reply To: I was in the same situation as all of you guys 4 years ago when i graduated from college and got an offer by infosys. Chances are, many of you guys do not have a strong IT background and have been sold to work for a "consulting" firm. First of all, get that out of your head. This is foremost an IT firm doing IT work. So if you don't find coding/testing/not sleeping fun, this isn't the job for you. The real consulting work is done by Infosys Consulting and they won't be hiring too many straight from college kids with no experience so don't get your hopes up going there. As for salaries, don't expect ANY raise for at least 4 years even if you do get promoted multiple times. What you will get is bonuses but before you start salivating, believe me its not that much. HR is non-existent and there are no US based policies, only indian ones. Also you will be living wherever your client is located. Unlike other firms, Infosys will not be paying for your plane tickets to go home each weekend. Espically when your weekends are best served working overtime. Now for the good news. This company has a very socialist mentality. You won't get fired unless you expose your genitals to the board of directors and even then, you might just get a light suspension. You are also riding on the offshore wave and infosys is the leader when it comes to that. Don't believe this will give u much prestige though. Even walmart, the strongest retailer in the world, isn't a place you would brag working at to the girl at the bar. What this translates to is job security that can only be equaled to the federal government. You'll also have a great opportunity to get some international work experience and work for a fast growing company. This is espically useful for grads without much work experience. My advice is for you to question whether you really want to work in the IT industry. If you do and have not much experience, then this is the place to start. After a few years, you can leave and work for a real firm that will pay your worth.
Message: Mersh, How much does a Project Manager get paid in Infosys at onsite. A candidate with 8+years of work experience in IT? I do not need exact figures. Ballpark of base and bonus is fine. Thanks in advance.
