My wife can do this but I can't. She's what the INS call a US citizen. I am what thay call a Canadian (like the guys on 3rd rock!)
Unless you are a US citizen you definitely want to have the blessing of the INS before you work in the US.
If you are caught working illegally, they can throw your ass out, a definite bummer unless you have nothing to lose.
