In Reply To: First, my resoonse to the first poster. Male and female have equal opportunities in HK, just like NY. Second, you can go to headhunters. There are several international headhunters have offices in HK and have very good contact with major IBs. To name a few, Manpower, Robert Walters, Michael Page... Third, check websites: www.scmp.com, www.careermosaic.com, www.moster.com and companies websites (most IB have offices in HK and their websites also post international job opportunities and contact). Fourth, you can contact local HR of the countries you are in at the moment. For example, if you are looking for a job in Goldman HK, you can contact their HR in US(let's say if you are in US at the moment) and let them know that you are interested in working in HK. I am sure they will be very helpful as other IB HR. Fifth, the rest is just like getting a job in UK or US. Of course, knowing somebody in the company always help. I hope my advice helps and good luck to all of you and enjoy your life in HK, an exciting city.
Message: I try to use one of the methods you suggested - contact a person I know. However, the result does not look good. Most of these people just don't bother to response(I am from a top u and have lots of alumni contact). I understand it is a matter of personal charm. Does anyone have experience of getting a job in this way? What is the best way to get them response and eventually get a job?
