and the reason they ranked 5th is because they advised BoTm on one deal - LB have no banking presence in Tokyo - totally underperforms as LB senior mgmt is full of parochial Americans who don't know anywhere outside of Manhanttan and so are always late to the party with the wrong people - total me-too firm.
Dick Fuld and Brad Jack (head of i-banking there) probably reckon that Tokyo is somewhere in China.
The NY FIG MD they sent here is a useless and the only people making any money are its bond traders.
GS has the best franchise here but unfortunately it is like joining the Moonies (same for GS anywhere), then MSDW, NSSB and perhaps WDR (or whatever they are called now). In any case, there is little corp. fin. work here - mostly just churning out equity and debt offerings - not so interesting. |
