I heard GS has some contacts, as well as SSB (check out Euromoney's people profile in Korea - you may have to register). HSBC, JPM, & Lehman's done some business there as well.
Check out who's done business with gov't and leading chaebols. It tells a lot about current position & future prospect of IB firms' local presence. |

.. has no future. If you want to do it, go there now. Most investment bankers I have met in Seoul have admitted that they are there for the short term restructuring but have expressed lack of faith in the Korean economic infrastructure.
Hence, senior management is very pessimistic about long term committments.
Just my impressions.
