unless you were born in the basement of 100 Half Day Road, aren't you an external hire by definition?
I've worked with both "better" AND "much worse", and some were hired into Hewitt right out of college, some were hired after working somewhere else, some came through acquisitions, and some came from companies that outsourced to Hewitt.
It's never "easy" adjusting to a new company, but I think it's getting easier now that Hewitt is not so much stuck in the old ways. For all the angst about how Hewitt isn't the same as it used to be, there are some definite upsides, and one of them is getting better at making effective use of experienced hires.
The next step will be increasing the amount of purposeful transfers, at least of managers, across geographies and parts of the business.
This will undoubtedly lead to more angst among some of the troops, especially those unwilling or unable to cope with the change, but it will also lead to great opportunities for many who take them. |

Here's the distinction: A contractor who has already worked for Hewitt is not considered an "external" hire.
