In Reply To: In part. It makes sense to target positions that aren't performing their core roles or that aren't as efficient as they should be. It still doesn't feel good to be on the receiving end of the gun. Thanks for the great career advice Dale. I don't think there's anything wrong with venting or creating commentary on this website. Better here than at work. I resent the implication that I'm not already steering my development or career. I most certainly am. I continue to develop my job skills at Hewitt. This makes sense since: A. I may be at Hewitt for some time before moving elsewhere. It only makes sense to keep working to get ahead here. I do not bring my opinions here to work with me... at least not in a fashion that affects the quality or quantity of my work. B. If I do go elsewhere it can only help me to learn as much as I can on my way. There is no benefit to me in trying to move outside the company while twiddling my thumbs at work and whining all the time about how unfair everything is. Don't assume that we're all the troublemakers and good-for-naughts just because we post here and we aren't happy with decisions that our company makes. Our leadership may be guilty of not seeing the forest for the trees sometimes. Leadership anywhere could be accused of the same thing... but that's not a reason NOT to point it out. On a final note I actually recently went up another pay band. I still have a couple to hit before I get payband 7 (a personal goal while I'm at Hewitt), but I'm certainly not just revving my engine in neutral here.
Message: "...I actually recently went up another pay..." congratulations! "...It still doesn't feel good to be on the receiving end of the gun..." then don't be on the receiving end -- be the gun. Hewitt and any competitor needs guns like that and they'll reward it. "...Better here than at work..." wrong. venting here is like peeing in a dark suit. It may make you feel warm for awhile, but nobody will notice -- except you when it cools off then you have to keep squirming in your secret discomfort and people may think you are just strange.
