Hewitt is a great company.
I don't understand why everybody is complaining about Hewitt. I have never worked with such a great company. I can work from home everyday and I only show up in the office once every month if that. I had very little IT experience when I started at hewitt 2 years ago as a VB programmer and I got paid 60k plus bonus. I get a lot of support from linc and I just need to copy the code and make sure the application works. My manager is happy with my work no matter how much I deliver and I really don't have any hard deadlines. When I don't understand something, I have the time to research it. My wife works for Hewitt as well and she can work from home most days. We love this company because we can work from home together. I am pretty sure I can earn more outside Hewitt but I just want a stable and flexible job. As for recognition I've gotten movie passes, amex gift cheques,etc. and my accomplishments have been recognized through emails and the odd infoshares. My wife has had a similar experience and in her few years she has been given a number of great opportunities and promotions even though there have been people here with more 'experience'. The opportunities are here, you just need to know how to look for them, it's not all bad here. I guess it really depends on your manager, I know a lot of managers at Hewitt are really green and/or 'inbred' through the Hewitt system and they have no idea how to treat their employees but I guess we both lucked out.
