Although I worked for Hewitt for 10 years and started back in the 'swan' era, I realized how much Hewitt changed once they went corporate. I previously worked for corporate america and knew that the Hewitt as we knew it would no longer exist and it doesn't. However, this was such a drastic culture change for Hewitt that they did not do a good job managing this change for their employees and are now left with the mess they have created.
For those thinking about leaving, just remember that it is not always rosy elsewhere. Every company, especially a publicly owned company has their issues. Also with the job market the way it has been, depending on the field you are in and how old you are (the older, the harder it is) it might not be easy to find a job. I left hewitt in 2003 and am still searching for a good position. I left at the end of my breaking point with the company as well and thought that I would have no issues finding a better job (especially with a college education behind me); but I have not been successful still and it has been very frustrating thinking that I gave Hewitt all my time and energy and that what I learned there I have not yet been able to use elsewhere.
Just something to think about.
