In Reply To: I arrived at Hewitt about 8 months before the major shift in direction. Back then I was excited about finding a company whose focus seemed ethical, open, and directed toward the business they were in, 'the business of people.' Despite the current low engagement reports, which I myself share, I am trying to remain optimistic, but am becoming rather frustrated with either the lack of knowledge of the people available for me to speak with, or the tight-lipped manner in which they carry themselves, whichever the case may be. I am trying to decide what skills to develop that will allow me to transition into a role which will survive the upcoming restructuring. I'm currently a CSA, so am looking for something fairly low on the totum pole, but it should be something that will not only keep me valuable within Hewitt, but also make me valuable in the industry as a whole. With the current structure I can see many paths to take that would accomplish this, but the lack of communication about the future makes me feel vulnerable and uncertain. I do not want to post out for a role that will be dessolved or otherwise hacked off within the next year. I hope some of you can help with this.
Message: There's a lot of talk about the work that we're shifting to India in our ODG... It's my belief that a good amount of this work is going to stay in LS for a long time to come. We use the ODG to maintain our client relationships and, to be frank, our clients aren't generally comfortable with the idea of maintaining their relationship with an offshore office. Amp up your technical skills - see if you can be the voice of CS in requirements analysis meetings (they have to have someone there to help catch things from a CS perspective). See if you can help with regression testing. Talk to your UM. Good luck.
