Be careful---very careful. I agree with the others who have recommended documentation. Following being placed on an IP, I had weekly 1/1 with my UM. In each 1/1, I had an outline, item for item, to counter with specific examples every item on the IP. I was sure to include every name involved. (My UM was especially scared of names and things in writing).
In the end, I was let go, but not for failing my IP. I had asked for overtime on a Friday. Plus, in my monthly one/one two days before I was let go, I had an 'exceptional' review and was 'performing remarkably'--UM's words, not mine. I mentioned in the 1/1 that I was looking forward to four months down the line when I would become fully vested. I think that's what did it for me....

If what you have written is true, that the sole reason for your termination was to prevent you becoming fully vesting in the employer contributions to your retirement, then you have a cause of action.
