A long, long time ago I can still remember
How Hewitt used to make me smile
And I knew if I had a chance
They would reward my performance
Maybe I'd be happy for a while
But earnings calls made me shiver
With each quarter they deliver
Bad news on TheSource site
I couldn't work one more night
I can't remember if I cried
When I read about being Exult??s bride
But something touched me deep inside
The day engagement died
I said, ??Bye-bye?? at Ted Hewitt??s graveside
Does Dale Gifford know he pilfered
All the company pride
And the good ol?? owners drank the Koolaid and cried
Singin?? this'll be the day the firm died
This'll be the day the firm died
Did you read TheSource postings
And do you have faith in Gifford??s boastings
If your UM tells you so
Do you believe the stock will roll?
Can Performance Points keep you off the dole?
Can you teach me how to work real slow?
Well I know no one??s in love with Dale
Cause I see the way they read his emails
We all check the bottom of our shoes
Man, don??t step in his half-thruths
I was a lonely Hewitt CSA
With a WIP and no lunchroom tray
But I knew I was out of luck
The day engagement died
I started singin
??Bye-bye?? at Ted Hewitt??s graveside
Does Dale Gifford know he pilfered
All the company pride
And the good ol?? owners drank the Koolaid and cried
Singin?? this'll be the day the firm died
This'll be the day the firm died
Now for 3 years we've been on our own
Led by the work of our enrolling drones
But that's not how it used to be
When Gifford sang for BPHRO
In a tune he borrowed from Sageo
In a voice that ignored you and me
And while employees were feeling down
Gifford moved jobs out of town
The boardroom was adjourned
No bonuses were returned
While Spitzer threw the book at Marsh
Even Towers Perrin thought it harsh
But Hewitt did surveys after dark
The day engagement died
CHORUS
Lunchline punchline to help the bottom line
Employees quit when no one heard them whine
$27 and falling fast
How much longer can it last
Employees tried to look for work
When they took away their final perk
Now the SameTime notes began to fume
While Managers sang a happy tune
We all tried to advance
O but we never got the chance
Cause shareholders began to squeal
When the stock price returned some lousy yields
Do you recall what was revealed
The day engagement died
CHORUS
Oh, and there we were all in one place
A reputation fallen far from grace
With no time left to start again
So come on Dale be nimble Dale be quick
Use the carrot and not the stick
Cause a liar is the Devil's only friend
Oh, and as I recall him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No one who rings the Opening Bell
Can then break that Satan spell
And as Associates work at night
To rectify our clients?? plight
I saw competitors laughing with delight
The day the engagement died
We were singing
??Bye-bye?? at Ted Hewitt??s graveside
Does Dale Gifford know he pilfered
All the company pride
And the good ol?? owners drank the Koolaid and cried
Singin?? this'll be the day the firm died
This'll be the day the firm died
I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news
But she just frowned and turned away
I went down to the cafeteria
To be greeted by a new cashier
And the man there said I??d have to pay
And on the street Associates screamed
The owners cried and shareholders dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The one-firm firm was broken
And the one man I admire most
Ted Hewitt??s inspirational ghost
No longer needs to stand a post
Because engagement died
We were singing
??Bye-bye?? at Ted Hewitt??s graveside
Does Dale Gifford know he pilfered
All the company pride
And the good ol?? owners drank the Koolaid and cried
Singin?? this'll be the day the firm died
