When I first left Mercer for HA the grass was incredibly greener. It's definitely a lot less so these days, but I still like what I do and even the food isn't *that* bad (although I can't say I like paying for it).
I went through some great times, some really stressful times and for the last two years or so I've been quite enjoying my work. That may have something to do with the fact that I, personally, have a lot of freedom in what I do and I use work as a creative outlet, development wise. I can see though how those who are newer to the job market and more entry level might be having a much tougher time swallowing the last year's worth of changes though, as nearly all of them directly affect the pocket book or people's free time. That and the fact that in early years of employement salary is usually the biggest focal point. Mind you, I think most consulting firms are a tough go nowadays, at least salary and hours wise.
Anyway, I am probably going to change my moniker as it seems a tad inconsiderate in retrospect. I apologize for those who are really having a tough go. It's just that people who have nothing better to do than spend all day former-employer bashing just kinda get to me. Especially considering the fact that I do enjoy working here and that they've been good to me over the years. I know some of you may have trouble believing that, but it's true. |

When it is good, it is very, very good. Just learn from the forum...change is inevitable for all of us no matter how hard we try to ignore the bell ringing for others. The freedom is great, but don't take it as a sign of appreciation, it may just be that you are still under the radar.
Again, enjoy it as long as it is enjoyable.
