Hiring entry level positions signifies nothing. Shareholder and market expecations are driving our business. Every quarter we trend away from our cost numbers will result in more layoffs. Work will be re-distributed and "re-designed" but the driver is really making quarterly results.
Everyone of us should be aware that our jobs are at risk and that no one is untouchable or irreplaceable. It doesn't matter what client you support or how complex is the project you are working on. If you are in the mastery range of your pay band, you've got a bigger target on your back as you are a "high cost" resource to the firm. All those hours you put in and the weekends away from family won't amount to a hill of beans when the time comes.
