Reasonable prices? Same quality? |

Typical start up bugs for Aramark... they couldn't forecast the demand, so some items were a wait and others were getting cold. Nice variety of things and reasonably tasty. In our building at least, they are tending towards more mainstream items and none of the faux gourmet crap that was typical before AE with Sodexo. My observation was that they had more typical lunch items rather than the dinner items we used to have.
Lots of people brought lunches or vowed to bring their lunch from here on out. They will be buying microwaves by the carload, I suspect. I spent under $5 for lunch and it was enough to fill me up. A couple people got hammered by the sandwich and salad pricing (by the ounce).
I checked out the breakfast items and you can get a decent enough breakfast (eggs and bacon) for a couple bucks, although they need to work on keeping that stuff from getting overcooked.
The list prices seem rather high. $1.25 for a cookie (ok, it's a big cookie, but I wouldn't consider it worth $1.25). The cashiers and food servers aren't on the same page. The food preparers are used to the more customized approach we used to have to lunch -- some of this, more of that -- and the cashiers are having trouble getting the prices right because the plates don't match what was advertised. They post and charge the list prices, then discount the price by 25%, but you really need to make sure that you all but wave your ID in front of them to get the discount. Take note of the prices, then check your receipt -- the herd of Aramark managers were doing lots of adjustments.
One thing is certain -- they are going to be going through LOTS more soda from the fountain dispensers since they aren't stocking fridges (in our building) and all the other drinks (except the juices) are being charged. I've already seen several people with huge covered cups (think Mega Big Gulp) loading up at the fountains.
