Thanks formerlifer. Appreciate it. Were you able to find something in the same city or will you need to move ?
Also where do you see Hewitt going ? you have been there 7 plus yrs, what kind of future do you see. Do you see it being acquired or do you see things staying stagnant.
Also what klind of an increase in salary did you see in the new offer from your most recent Hewitt Salary ? |

No problem. Despite what many posters say, skills acquired at Hewitt are marketable. You just need to know how to position them. (Geez, I am high on Hewitt-speak today). If you have the luxury of no impending layoff, take your time to find the right opportunity for you.
I was able to find something in the same city that I live in with the same commute, a 20% wage increase, comparable to Hewitt's 2006 benefits (cheaper in some ways in fact), more holidays, same amount of vacation, a 401(k) and pension plan, and a chance for 8% bonus every year that is based on what I do and not how the firm, region, or CSG does. I probably could have negotiated something higher in salary but there were some other personal considerations and perks they offered me that made up for what I would have wanted ideally. My December '05 review was a 3% raise with 100% AI payout.
The word is definitely out that associates are fleeing in the Woodlands. I have friend from the Houston area that said his former company is interviewing tons of HA-ers for QA positions and they know that Hewitt is doing major offshoring. If you are interested more in the pure benefits side of things, you will likely have less competition for jobs. While it is easy to assume that going to a large company will give you the best shot of a higher salary, many small to mid-size companies probably need Hewitt experience more and are willing to pay for it so don't overlook them.
