Topic Name: Are you being laid off?

In Reply To: I know who was laid off and I can tell you that the majority were high performers. You obviously have no idea who was let go to make a comment like that. In fact, based on your statement I would suspect that you are one of those people who should be counting their lucky stars that you were not let go, but should have been. Do you realize the talent that the firm let go?
Message: My entire department (newly created last year) was let go. At least one co-worker and myself were definitely "high performers." As for the "open opportunties," well, they're technically available, but as I think someone else already pointed out, unless your skills are directly transferrable, you're SOL. My problem with Hewitt is *how* they laid people off... we (about 15 people) were told over the phone, with no advance warning to our managers, by a new 'boss' we'd never even spoken with in the month and a half she was over us. then we couldn't tell anyone "yet," which wound up lasting until our last day. Tacky. What's associate engagement, again? :P
