In Reply To: Yeah, when I look at what other companies have to do as they invest in the future, what we're going through isn't that unusual. I've worked at other places and think some of what the management are doing is actually just getting Hewitt to where it should have been a long time ago. But, as you say, we have been hit hard on some of the benefit changes and that makes it tough to go through. I think for me it comes down to whether or not I believe in the leaders and where they are taking us. There's some new ones who have come in from outside. Our market share is good and we seem to be well thought of by most of our clients so delivering on the contracts we've taken on should give us good returns eventually. I also think that we each have to decide if we're in the game. If we are, then give it our all, and if we're not, then leave.
Message: ... sounds like management strategery on how they would like employees to behave. "decide if we are in, and if so, give it our all." Well people do not behave that way. I see lots of people just doing enough to get by, or just looking out for themselves and their advancement, regardless of results. Then there is also inertia on the part of the individual. Each person says to themselves " I am not in it for the long run, but for now, I may as well stay around and collect a paycheck". That you would even think people will give it their all after all of the benefit cuts, layoffs, low AI, threat of global sourcing shows you are so naive as to how people actually behave that you must be in HR or senior management.
