Professional skills are dearly needed in medical practice management, coding and billing compliance, and audit-prevention programs for physicians, no matter how small or large the practice.
Sadly, most physicians are simply overwhelmed by the complicated chart coding, billing, and compliance issues, but cannot afford to ignore the implications on their business. One defensive stance might be to consistently bill fewer or lesser services than were actually provided--at a significant and unjustified economic loss to the practice.
