In Reply To: I'll be taking the classes locally. I've ruled out the post-bac route because of the fact that I do plan to keep working until I get accepted and I think that in terms of the time line, waiting for acceptance into a post-bac or grad program will extend things too far. But, if there are opinions I gladly welcome reading them. I will admit, I'm still a little unsure. I would love to be a doctor, but what does that really do to my plans for a family? What will it be like to be 30 and living on student aid? There are still some unanswered questions as you can see...
Message: Yes, I really do know what you mean. I think that I'd love to be one, too, but also don't want to give up my life and other things that I see myself wanting (kids, family, etc.) for it. And I'm also anxious about living through my early and mid thirties on financial aid.... I am applying to two post bac programs (columbia and penn) because my friends who have done the "late to med school" route say that those programs give you the best chance of getting into med school. The applications for summer/fall start aren't due until April or May, so you could still try that route if you like. You can do them part time (so still work), but it's hard and also the schools discourage that. I've also thought about just taking classes and working through, to save money and have something to fall back on. But then, I think that if I'm really going to do it, that I should just plunge and give myself the best chance of getting into med school. What are you doing in finance now? Will it be hard to work full time and take science classes/labs at night?
