I am currently appying to medical school and am considering applying for a few joint MD/JD programs. What are your thoughts about this dual degree? What career paths do MD/JDs take? What is the earnings potential like? How is this comparable with the MD/MBAs? Thanks so much for all your insights! |

unles you want to be an attorney practicing in healthcare litigation or defense. You can make excellent money in this type of litigation. However, it's not as if healthcare litigation is limited to MD/JD's. Any regular lawyer can become involved in healthcare litigation.
It sounds like you are ambitious and you want to pad your resume. After all, it would seem cool if you are a doctor and lawyer. However, if you are going to be a physician, the J.D. will be a waste. Your patients won't care whether you are a lawyer too. Besides, your work load would be insane. Don't get the dual degree unless there is a specific field you want to enter. Since you are just exploring your options, stay away from this concept.
