In Reply To: The artificial regulation of doctors numbers refers to the limited number of accredited medical schools and the intensely competitive entry requirements. No other profession has so many barriers to entry. This is a reflection of the arrogance of the medical profession as well as its avarice. Whenever someone approaches me with a lust for money I invariably inquire about the risks they are willing to take in earning mega bucks. Obviously an investment banker might earn obscene sums but he also might not. There is no question that a greedy but risk averse person should pursue a career in medicine as it promises good dollars at a very low risk. There a very few specialties that do not have high earning potentials. The gynacologists and pediatricians who you so readily discount can also earn huge sums of money. I know plenty of gynos earning $400k plus. There is no point concealing the huge money in medicine; it is so apparent to anybody who keeps their eyes open.
Message: Are you saying you DON'T want large barriers to entry into the medical profession? Do you want some idiot who barely can read and write to be taking care of your family? For god's sake, think about what you're saying!!! It's neither avarice nor arrogance. It's rational. Clearly you have a bone to pick with doctors, but I think you're using some pretty poor arguments to support your stand. I'm sorry that you're so angry, but making up stories about physicians isn't going to solve anything.
