Hello,
I am considering applying for the private banking graduate programme in London office.
I would appreciate advice from anybody who works at HSBC Private Bank, or a recent analyst on that programme. What's the competition for the programme (my impression is, they extended the deadline due to insufficient applications number)? What are the opportunities for promotion and travel? How rigid is the programme, what's the culture like, etc.

i could probably help you. i interviewed for the program last year and made it to the final stages of the interview process in geneva, switzerland. it was incredibly challenging... i wasn't hired but do have contacts in hsbc private bank at various levels. also, hsbc's private bank is considered one of the best in the world. don't confuse it with their investment banking operations. (i worked in private banking in switzerland.) i agree that their investment banking ops have a ways to go... but their private bank is at the top.
