1) Those two are the sectors that have been more stable and have had consistency.
2) US is new and it's starting out against the big US firms in their home market along with the Deutshces and Lazards that have done well. HK could be alright, other banks have been doing China-based deals as well, but maybe HSBC will prove successful in their home market. You can take the chance if you'd like.
3) They always said that HSBC wouldn't buy, but prefer to build, but you never know. I've never seen Green and Gulliver as M&A keen, and given the track record of acquiring ibanks, they'd probably be skeptical...not to mention questions as to the capacity to integrate an ibank. |
