Not sure who will stay and for how long. For some they just arrived....at least at the associate level they've come from accounting firms, i-banks of a similar level where a move to HSBC seemed alright given the possible uptake, and in the case of colleagues from the graduate in-take...frankly some I know are too lazy to look into market opportunities or placate themselves, which is why they make better employees than me ; ). To be fair some bonuses are more than others depending on the sector, deals, etc...
Biggest bonus in M&A ? maybe Energy & Utilities, they're more consistent in terms of deals and the team itself. Hope this all helps. |

Gales, great points, definitely been helpful.
My picture of HSBC is an uncertain one and am just interested in seeing how you (as an employee there) see the future of their IB franchise.
Any comments on the following would be very helpful:
1) Studz changing role
2) US presence? Teams? Dealflow? Executing or just pitching?
3) Are base and bonus going to rise? (given change of management too)
4) Best experience groups (you mentioned E&U, how about execution teams or the Asian side? Sponsors?)
Thanks again for your answers. Good luck with your work!
