OK, first off I was bad and didn't ask the interviewer if he was a HR person, outsourced, or IM himself. My bad. The interview lasted 40 minutes. Questions I can remember:
"Experience managing a team in difficult circumstances".
"Time you made a decision without all the facts, and what was the outcome"
"Why HSBC, Why Banking?"
"How you motivated a team, how large was it, etc."
"Experience with complex financial modeling".
"Experience in other cultures, dealing with difficult people, etc"
Thats about all I can remember. It was reasonably fast paced. I was only interrupted a few times where I was taking the question too literally. Interview lasted 40 minutes. I was told I would be informed of pass/fail within 10 days via email then follow up phone call. And that from there Assessment centers were running until the end of the year for openings begining Jan-June 2006. |

Hi, johncarleton,
Thanks for the notes, I think it will be helpful as I am conducting this interview in a few days, how did you go with your application, any further advice?
