In Reply To: I'm in NY and I'm gonna be graduating in May. I got a REAL LATE start on job hunt because of family issues. I have an offer from a small Long Island firm but I am interested in joining GT. I have applied for an internship for GT for the summer but I am a little concerned if I reject the offer from the small firm than I wont have any guarantee of a job after the internship (if i get it). My alternative plan could be to go to grad school if that was to happen but many people have said that a MBA with a concentration in accounting isnt really a big career booster. Is that true? Not in terms of just money but I've heard that what you do in college is very very different from what happens in the firm. Is attending grad school after 2-3 years of work more beneficial or is grad school a credential that firms look for? Can someone with some knowledge please comment.
Message: If you want, you can send your resume to me and I can see if the GT Long Island office is still looking for associates to start in the fall. soupsmp@yahoo.com If you plan on a career in accounting, a graduate degree is of little significance - in my opinion. I would say that 80% of the Partners I have worked with have nothing more than a 4-year degree. What you learn in the field does not compare to what you learn in college. My CPA is my MBA.
