Yes, that's really the only way, and it does work. But they are so inundated with resumes and disorganized about the whole thing that it's sort of a crap shoot. Best is to find someone inside the company. I applied through the website twice over a period of six months, for like 10 different positions, and finally got an email from a recruiter saying let's set up some time to chat. After that, the recruiter didn't return emails and voicemails - i had to hunt him down and he said "it's crazy around here". Finally i got a phone screen.
