In Reply To: Hey Guys, I am seeking some inspiration here. i have just been offered to roles (i) Fixed Inc Front Office @ GE in NY (ii) Fixed Income OPs role @ GS. A lot of ppl seem to be leaving Goldman for lack of work life balance and my research shows that moving from ops to front office is like getting Victoria Beckham to eat some food...virtually impossible. What do you think is my best option? Thanks, Confused One
Message: Fixed income is a good place to be, both front office and back office as far as there is a lot of work to go around (some MO or settlements in ops). Having said that, if you have the choice between front office or back office, NEVER work in the back office, even if the company for front office is third tier (don't go lower than that though). Moving from back office to front office is possible, though a lot of people seem to get stuck in some MO role and never make it. When you say GE what do you mean by the way (running hedge funds through my head and can't think of one...???)
