guys! I start in the middle office at one of the tier 1 IBD in london, as I didnt graduate from a so called "red brick" university so cudnt apply directly to front office, but bloody keen on making my way upto the trade desk as early as possible....but must confess vent got much idea abt what "exactly" I want to do, but am really keen on derivatives, you guys got any advise on that?? please feel free to shoot!

In my experience with institutional financial firms, which is admittedly mostly on the advisory side, there is only front and back office. You either generate revenue or you don't. What the heck is middle office? Is it just back office people trying to position themselves in a more favorable light?
