In Reply To: I would go with gs first for two years and then jump to PE. You'll be better prepared, feel less overwhelmed when you get there, and will be able to outperform when you hit KKR. I had a similar problem. Post your email or phone # and I would be more than happy to chat one on one.
Message: you should post this on the IBD message board... might get more looks you might be making a mistake by forgoing the chance to go to a top PE shop now. remember, top PE is the goal for many investment bankers, and these shops only take a few per year (not sure what post-mba associate figures are like). what if in a few years time, you can't make it back into a BB PE and have to settle for mid-mkt? lifestyle-wise (less so for blackstone), you'll have a better life in PE. this decision is a no-brainer for many... like you said, ibd offers a broader experience... but does it really? aside from learning how to model, it really is just ass-kissing, face time, and pitching, isn't it? even at the associate level, i would think the buy-side would be an easy choice but what do i know, i'm only headed into my 1st summer in IBD... good luck
